The Hon. Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs,  Senator George Akume, fnim has congratulated Mr. Silas Mfa Ikpah on his appointment into the Membership of the Federal Character Commission of Nigeria, representing Benue State.

The Hon. Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Dr. George Akume, fnim has received with profound sadness the news of the passing of Alhaji Mutari Dauda,a cousin to Mr. President.

the Hon Minister extends heartfelt commiserations to President Buhari over the transition of his cousin, who was a symbol of humility and  uprightness.

The Hon. Minister prayed God to comfort the family of the late  Alhaji Mutari Dauda, to  grant his soul eternal rest and to give the Daura Community and the good people of Katsina State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss

The Hon. Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Dr George Akume, KSJI, fnim was at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Friday, 20th of December, 2019 to receive the President of Gambia, His Excellency, Adama Barrow on behalf of the President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari,GCFR.

 

The Hon. Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator (Dr) George Akume, on Tuesday, 12th December, 2019 attended a Dinner/Gala Night organized by Timipre Sylva, the Hon. Minister of Petroleum Resources.

The event which was held at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja was organizer in honour of visiting Ministers of the African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO) who were in Nigeria to participate in the APPO Extraordinary Meeting.

It was an unforgettable day on 13th December, 2019 as Justice Terhemba Tsoho was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Nigeria by Justice Ibrahim Tanko.

Describing Justice Tsehemba Tsoho, The Honourable Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Dr George Akume fnim who graced the occasion, described the Chief Judge as a man of proven integrity who has paid his dues both in character, learning and functional credibility to have become what he is today. The Hon. Minister called on all well meaning Benue indigenes and Nigerians at large to pray and support Justice Terhemba Tsoho in his new designation.

Justice Terhemba Tsoho is from Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State and has so meritoriously served his dear country Nigeria as to earn him the worthy elevation to the position of the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court.

The occasion attracted the attendance of great legal luminaries,top government functionaries,civil societies,members of the diplomatic corps among others.

The theme of the 6th General Assembly of Northern Traditional Rulers Council centered on the analysis of education as a catalyst for socio-economic development in Nigeria.

The consensual high point of the meeting as put forward by the traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders is that the backbone of any strong society is anchored on proper education of her citizenry in such a vertical progression that adds value,dignity and development to such a society.

The occasion witnessed the attendance of the  Secretary to the Government of the Federation,Boss Mustapha as well as the Honourable Minister of Special Duties and InterGovernmental Affairs, fnim, Senator (Dr) George Akume who attended the event on Special Nomination by The President. Also in attendance were leading Northern Emirs and other major stakeholders in the education sector.

 

 

The Honourable Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator (Dr) George Akume fnim, yesterday the 7th December, 2019 attended the 31st and 32nd Convocation Ceremonies of the University of Jos, Jos-Nigeria.

Activities at the event included the award of degrees, post graduate degrees and post graduate diplomas as well as honorary degrees to deserving students and distinguished personalities in Nigeria.

Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama succeeds His Eminence,Archbishop John Cardinal Onaiyekan who recently retired as the Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja Diocese.

The occasion witnessed a cross sectional attendance of men and women of different religious persuasions.

Present at the event was the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo,the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha,Ministers,State Governors,members of the diplomatic corps among others.

In his remarks,the Hon. Minister commended the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja for the great initiative in setting up the Catholic Television of Nigeria ten years ago,so as to facilitate the enlightenment and dissemination of Catholic doctrines and Gospels of our Lord and Saviour,Jesus Christ.
