Senator George Akume attended a two day Presidential Retreat alongside other members of the Federal Executive Council on the 19th August 2019.

On the 21st day of August, 2019 Distinguished Senator George Akume was sworn in as the Honourable Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari,GCFR.
