The Honourable Minister identifies that the appointment of Major General Irabor by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria is undoubtedly a manifestation of his proven outstanding performance as an active team player in the collective efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the fight against insurgency,banditry and terrorism,having performed successfully as a former Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole in the North-East, Nigeria.

The Honourable Minister commends President Muhammadu Buhari who has provided political will and leadership to making the Nigerian Armed Forces stronger in terms of armament and improved welfare of officers and men,as morale booster in their service delivery. Senator George Akume expresses confidence that the new Chief of Defence Staff will leverage on the commitment of Mr. President, and hence,contributively put an end to insurgence and national threat in Nigeria.
