SENATOR GEORGE AKUME CONGRATULATES KASHIM IBRAHIM-IMAM ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS CHAIRMAN BOARD OF TRUSTEES (BOT) OF THE TERTIARY EDUCATION TRUST FUND (TETFUND).

The Hon. Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator (Dr) George Akume, fnim has congratulated Kashim Ibrahim-Imam (Matawalli Borno) on his appointment as the Executive Chairman of Board of Trustees of The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.

Senator George Akume commended President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR for the appointment of Kashim Ibrahim-Imam who played a crucial role in the merger of legacy parties, culminating in the birth of APC.

In his congratulatory message, he lauded the appointee’s qualities describing him as an accurate thinker, of optimal integrity, and with vast experience in political administration and public service.

He expressed no doubts that Kashim Ibrahim will bring his vast experience to bear on the level of performance of TETFUND and the education sub sector in Nigeria. The Hon. Minister prayed God to guide, protect and perfect Kashim Ibrahim-Imam in his new national assignment.

Kashim Ibrahim-Imam (MatawalliBorno)  who was a Presidential Liaison Officer to the Senate at the start of President Olusegun Obasanjo's administration. and the party’s cornerstone, hails from Borno State. He was born on The 8th of May 1962,

He holds degrees in Political Science (BSc) and International Economic Relations (MSc) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the University of Maiduguri respectively. He then entered the banking industry and since then, has served in different sectors of the Nation with engagements spreading across economy, national administration and politics.

He was given the title of "Mutawalli Borno", a Senior Councillor to the Shehu (traditional ruler) of Borno.  

He is also a childhood friend and business partner of his political opponent in Borno State, former Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff  against whom he twice contested and lost the Borno State Governorship elections in 2003 and 2007.

His appointment is for a tenure of four years in the first instance and may be renewed for a further term of four years, upon satisfactory performance.
