The above recognition and award of honour is bestowed on Senator George Akume with specific considerations of the following:

1. His democratic and patriotic role as then, Chairman of Northern Governors Forum, and in aborting the infamous third term bid and agenda of the Obasanjo administration that wanted to stay in office for more than the two constitutionally approved terms in 2007.

2. His political leadership style that promotes and supports the welfare of the people.

3. His selfless and charismatic character that does not believe in the accumulation of public funds and resources for himself.

4. His contributions to the growth and development of others political leaders in Benue State and Nigeria.

5. His contributions and legacies of infrastructural growth and development in Benue State.

The Honourable Minister’s award was received on his behalf by Dr. Aondona Mkor at the occasion, which took place at the GBOKO CLUB, Gboko Local Government Area, Benue State.
